As I have been looking at how to gain more experience in the cybersecurity world I can see that the next cert after the CompTIA Security+ seems to be CompTIA CYSA+ which stands for Cybersecurity Analyst. It is a cert that is supposed to be good for those who have been working in the Cybersecurity field for about 3 years so may be able to use this to help up my experience level to help qualify for some Entry level positions.

As my experience in the Cybersecurity field is low and most of what I have been doing is self-study I don’t have any real experience in the field. So as I was going over some of the podcasts and YT videos it always mentioned that one of the best things to do for experience is to work on a project.  So was reviewing some project videos and of course, it means you need to have a place to display your cybersecurity portfolio as well. I guess it is time to dust off my old Gethub was using for web development back in the day.

Got over the first hurdle in my Cybersecurity journey at this point getting my Security+ cert. I feel pretty good even though the score was just above the passing mark. Even not yet working in the field seem to have a basic understanding of security-related items and networking. Now I get to add that to my resume.

Well like anything you go into you want to do your best so made sure I did some review before I went in. Sitting down at the desk you start the test off and then your mind goes blank..lol.

So took skipped a few questions but started to find the groove. After about an hour of going through and answering those I knew and skipping those, I saved for the end. I managed to answer all the questions and I PASSED!! These last few months of study, practice, and review have paid off as I am now Security+ certified.

Working through a few more items over on TryHackMe. The SOC Level 1 learning path is pretty in-depth. I am finding it a bit of a challenge so have been going around to a few different lessons to help with some of the frustrating parts. Sometimes best to take a break instead of trying to cram through something.

About half way through the Udemy course for Security+ so just been working on the videos and a few practice tests as my scores on certain questions still seem to be a bit off. I decided to go ahead and set a date for my Security+  test as well as May 26. There is a PearsonVUE testing location at a community college nearby so I can get there with no issues.

I think we getting into the homestretch at this point. I have pretty much finished the Security+ book and have been working on those practice tests with good results. Still also going through the Udemy course and got some additional practice tests from them. Most of my test results have been coming back 85-90%. So I seem to be getting a good grasp of the material. Time to set a date for the test!!

Been going through the Dion Training video course for Udemy and I do like how it is laied out. He jumps around a bit with the material but he relays the reason for doing that is because it makes more sense to talk about something together instead of going by the CompTIA guideline. The different sections will still be covered but going through them in order by the guideline makes them harder to learn as something in the later modules connect to things in the middle. Making a more uniform experience is their goal. I can agree it works for me
