Got over the first hurdle in my Cybersecurity journey at this point getting my Security+ cert. I feel pretty good even though the score was just above the passing mark. Even not yet working in the field seem to have a basic understanding of security-related items and networking. Now I get to add that to my resume.

So took skipped a few questions but started to find the groove. After about an hour of going through and answering those I knew and skipping those, I saved for the end. I managed to answer all the questions and I PASSED!! These last few months of study, practice, and review have paid off as I am now Security+ certified.

Almost done with the Udemy Security+ course. In going through the practice test my scores are coming up to about 85% which is the bare min to pass and the questions don’t vary all that much. I am sure the test on exam day will be much more varied so…

Sometimes best to take a break instead of trying to cram through something.

About half way through the Udemy course for Security+ so just been working on the videos and a few practice tests as my scores on certain questions still seem to be a bit off. I decided to go ahead and set a date for my Security+ test as well as May 26. There is a PearsonVUE testing location at a community college nearby so I can get there with no issues.

I think we getting into the homestretch at this point. I have pretty much finished the Security+ book and have been working on those practice tests with good results. Still also going through the Udemy course and got some additional practice tests from them. Most of my test results have been coming back 85-90%. So I seem to be getting a good grasp of the material. Time to set a date for the test!!

Been going through the Dion Training video course for Udemy and I do like how it is laied out. He jumps around a bit with the material but he relays the reason for doing that is because it makes more sense to talk about something together instead of going by the CompTIA guideline. The different sections will still be covered but going through them in order by the guideline makes them harder to learn as something in the later modules connect to things in the middle. Making a more uniform experience is their goal. I can agree it works for me

My practice test scores are starting to even out a bit. I seem to be getting more passes now than I was with failures before. This is good. I also discovered a course on Udemy that seems good by Dion Training. It will help to break up the book learning and reinforce what I have been learning with video lessons. It also has a set of practice tests that I can go through.

Reading through more of my Exam Cram Security+ book. Some of the sections on governance are a bit confusing, but I have to remind myself that most of this is for their higher-level executive types who would have to worry more about a company’s compliance with things like GDPR and other global compliance standards. Good information to know, but may not come into play in the normal day-to-day cybersecurity analyst stuff.
